WARM WATER SHOWERS my naked, tired body after having a full day of classes. I open wide getting a mouthful of water rinsing out my mouth. I reach for my toothbrush and tooth paste on the bath banister and begin brushing. Back to life, back to reality. I’m going to miss my summer job working at the retirement home again. There is so much life and wisdom in the elderly. Working is pretty much what my summer consisted of. I didn’t see much of Chanelle or Chad. Chanelle spends her spare time with Craig and Chad is head chef at his brother’s restaurant which didn’t leave him much time to come to the city. Qalbee and I actually talked over the phone regularly, and even spend some time together almost like when we first met. It was paradise. We only had sex three times the entire two mouths of summer. I think it is that girl, but he said they no longer talk. Chanelle verified that when she’s at Qalbee and Craig’s apartment the girl is never there. Craig says that Qalbee never really liked her to begin with, that he was merely going through some things at the time - basically his mother being ill and dying, though no one talks about it.

On a lighter note, I didn’t have to catch the Greyhound back to Sugarland. When I was loading my bags in the car to head back to school after the summer, my mother handed me a red box. When I opened it there were keys to a car, my new car, a mustard yellow Toyota Tacoma! My mother whispered in my ear, “You deserve it,” and she kissed me on the cheek! Both my mother and father went on about how they are proud of me, how I’ve proved that I’m responsible enough to have an automobile away from home, and how I’ve earned their trust. Yet they still made me follow them back to campus, I guess to further augment their sense of security. Elaina and I moved out of the dormitory and moved into apartments on campus. I’ve been back for about two weeks and Elaina returned a couple of days before me to pay the deposit for the apartment. We still have plenty of tidying up to do given that our focus has been Prada E since we’ve returned.

“Back to School with Prada Extravaganza” was a sensation. We were able to raise eight hundred dollars over the summer. A few band members that I know got together and helped us raise two hundred dollars and some of the members of the football team that Elaina knows raised one hundred. Before we left for summer break we profited a hundred from a few of the students around campus, and when we returned we had a couple of cars washes that raised us four hundred dollars. With Office Max and Staples donating paper, folders, and binders, pens, pencils and markers, and other supplies, we raised approximately a thousand dollars in all.
